Meet Emma ’26

Hey! I鈥檓 Emma (he/they/she) and I鈥檓 a third-year from Santa Clara, CA. At the halfway point of my undergrad years, I鈥檓 kind of in a funny position. I鈥檓 currently pivoting to pursue a joint major in Sociology and Gender & Women鈥檚 Studies off-campus at Pomona. Entering college, I was pre-med and had been working towards a Molecular Biology major up until this point. So, at the moment, I basically have two minors in Biology and Music, but nothing to my majors yet (oops). This shift in my academic pursuits was an unprecedented but important realization I had while taking a leave of absence this past spring semester, reevaluating what I would actually find fulfillment in doing and how I wanted to apply my degree and experiences beyond college. In a way, entering this new school year has so far felt like Round 2 of all the feelings that come with being an incoming freshman coming from an academic break with a new academic trajectory. Certainly, I am so glad to be at a liberal arts institution like Scripps to have the flexibility to explore my academic interests across these first two years, and to have been academically, administratively, and socially supported through the journey I鈥檝e had so far. I鈥檓 super stoked to find out what lessons and surprises this year will have in store for me, and to share that with you all! I hope that providing a lens into my life as a student at Scripps can resonate with future prospective students considering Scripps or quell some uncertainties about college in general. Knowing that I can play a part in advising, informing, and demystifying information surrounding the ever-confusing and anxiety-inducing college admissions process is why I chose to be an Ambassador. Reach out to me via my email [email protected] should you have any questions!
