DEI Departmental Action Plans
Various offices across campus are hard at work developing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Departmental Action Plans, focused on reviewing departmental practices and policies to ensure we continue to create equitable and just spaces across campus. Offices that have developed plans include Denison Library, the Sallie Tiernan Field House, and the LASPA Center. Action plans outcomes can also be supported by funding. If you are interested in creating an action plan, please contact Dr. Mary Hatcher-Skeers.

Title VI in Focus and Free Speech on Campus
Conversations and actions that unfolded on campus since October 7, 2023, prompted members of our campus community and beyond to engage in dialogue about what language is protected by free speech and what language would violate Title VI, which prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, and national origin.
During the 2024 spring semester, the Equity and Justice Leadership Team hosted a workshop for students and a webinar for staff and faculty to examine the complexities of two fundamental aspects: Free Speech and Title VI (enshrined in the Civil Rights Act of 1964).
Members of the Scripps community have access to the presentation .
