Anna Nora is a Finnish composer and choir educator with a special interest in choir methodology for children and youth and in choir conducting pedagogy. She works as an instructor in the Helsinki Conservatory of Music conducting children’s and youth choirs and starting a new course on children鈥檚 choir conducting in 2023. In the Sibelius Academy of the University of Arts she is the instructor of choir conducting in the division of church music.
Anna Nora works also in audience outreach projects as a free-lance children’s choir specialist in the Finnish National Opera and Ballet and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. She specializes in creating opera for children and opera by children together with opera professionals. She has composed five children鈥檚 operas herself and promotes choir pedagogy and choir singing as the Artistic Director of the Finnish Association of Youth Choirs.
We have the pleasure of hosting Anna Nora as the 聽O’Brien Visiting Professor at Scripps from October 23-November 5 2023.
