In June 2023, Professor Anne Harley led a group of four Scripps students on a research trip to Borneo thanks to a 25K grant from AsiaNetwork, the national association for Asian and Asian-American studies in the liberal arts. She also commissioned and premiered Six Ukrainian Songs, a song cycle setting female poets from Ukraine by composer Moshe Shulman at the Buffalo Jewish Community Center. The songs will be recorded this fall, and given their West Coast premiere at Scripps at her faculty recital/fundraiser for Ukraine on November 10 in Garrison.
