Mail Services collects and distributes in-bound and out-bound mail and packages for °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ.Ìý

Addresses

Mailing address

The mailing address is used by the Post Office and Mail Services to deliver mail to the intended recipient. Since all °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ mail comes through Mail Services, it should be addressed to the "official" °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ mailing address (3201 Burton St. SE).

Although there are several acceptable mailing address formats for °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ recipients, this is the one we prefer:

Physical address

The physical address, which is the building number and street address, is used by 911 emergency responders and GPS navigators to actually drive up to a specific building. Each °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ building does have a physical address. Because all °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ mail is delivered by the US Post Office and commercial package carriers to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Mail Services for distribution to recipients at the residence halls, mail should be addressed to the university's main address: 3201 Burton St. SE, and not to a residence hall's physical address.Ìý

Why not address mail to the physical address?

The physical address does not provide enough information to locate a recipient. For staff, recipients' mailboxes are usually located in their departmental offices. Mail Services sorts incoming mail by department and delivers it on routes which most efficiently reach them. When a department moves to a different building, Mail Services adjusts its delivery routes to accommodate the change.

For students, Mail Services sorts incoming mail by residence halls or apartment for daily delivery to front desks.

Using a physical address does not impede campus mail delivery, but it's unnecessary.

Deliveries

All departments, residence halls, and apartments get one mail delivery each day.

Shipping

We are able to provide a variety of domestic and international mailing options. Unfortunately, federal regulations for public mail service centers prohibit Calvin Mail Services from providing shipping services to public (non-Calvin) customers.Ìý

Sending Overnight Mail & Packages

Please note that outgoing overnight letters and packages must be received by Mail Services no later than 3:00 pm in order to be processed that same day. Shipments that reach Mail Services after 3:00 will be processed the following business day. We advise you to NOT send overnight shipments to Mail Services using ICM, as these may not reach Mail Services in time to be processed and shipped the same day.
