Athenas Volleyball Team Wins Its First NCAA Division III National Title
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas defeated the Wittenberg Tigers in three straight sets to win their first-ever National Championship volleyball title at the NCAA Division III Tournament in Grand Rapids, Mich. on November 18, 2017.

Claremont-McKenna-Scripps (CMS) athletes rallied recently to donate and ship more than 400 pieces of clothing to help Houston residents who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. CMS equipment manager Brian Smith said teammates answered the call put out by his fellow equipment colleagues at the University of Houston, who provided an organized avenue for the clothing drive to occur.

The reigning conference champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving teams have had a great deal of success in and out of the pool over the years. The list of accolades continues to grow as both the Stags and the Athenas were recognized as Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in an announcement on Jan. 27.
The award recognizes teams whose grade-point average totaled 3.0 or higher during the 2015 Fall semester. The men’s team compiled a GPA of 3.27, and the women’s average was 3.38 during that time period.
