Presidential Search Committee Co-Chairs Update

Dear °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Community Members,

The presidential search has advanced significantly since our last report on March 1, and we are pleased to share the most recent developments in the search for the 10th president of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ.

In March, the search committee and our search consultant focused on engaging the Scripps community by way of numerous virtual meetings, conversations, and an online survey. We deeply appreciate the current, Life, and Former Trustees, students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and parents who have provided important feedback and information via those channels. More than 130 members of the Scripps community participated in the community listening sessions, 158 sent in nominations, and 30 completed the survey. The community’s input reflects the shared belief that Scripps is a national leader among women’s liberal arts institutions and is deserving of a president who appreciates its academic excellence, embraces our community and culture, and advances our highest aspirations for the College’s future.

The search committee is pleased to announce the completion and dissemination of the . This Prospectus synthesizes in written form the most significant attributes, qualifications, and expertise we would like our next president to embody. It also describes in both images and words the vibrancy and excellence of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ. The final document is the product of input received from our community engagement conversations and reflects the search firm’s intent to capture competing priorities and convey the goals, values, and leadership qualities that are shared and respected throughout the Scripps community.

The search is gaining visibility due to advertisements placed in numerous national education, business and leadership, and consumer publications, and the committee has already received a significant number of applications.

The focus of the search effort now turns to identifying potential candidates. As we embark upon this next phase of the search, our focus, and the focus of our search consultant, will be to identify and attract the strongest candidate pool possible. Based upon our careful evaluation of those candidates, our charge remains to recommend a single candidate to the Board of Trustees to appoint as the College’s next President.

We appreciate everyone’s continuing interest in the search process and encourage you to visit the presidential search website to obtain additional information about the search, review the prospectus, or contact the committee.

Sincerely,

Ellen Brown                                            Deborah David ’72
