Scripps Presents: Spring 2018 Season: Readings, Performances, and Conversations with Liz Lerman, Tig Notaro, Opal Tometi, Ayelet Waldman, and More

Scripps Presents, the College’s signature public event series, will continue to challenge and delight audiences who are interested in the issues and ideas that shape contemporary culture, politics, and art with yet another stellar array of guests featured in its spring 2018 season.

“Since our first season in winter 2016, we have been focused on presenting lively and reflective discussions on the issues that impact students and the larger Claremont and Los Angeles community,” Corrina Lesser, artistic director of Scripps Presents, says. “But what makes this season so exciting is we are more fully realizing than ever before amazing collaborations between our faculty, students, and visiting performers.”

With themes centered on some of the year’s hottest topics, Scripps Presents offers a diverse and compelling slate of presenters and performances.

“We are presenting some of the best in arts and humanities programming in the region, and welcome thoughtful talent such as feminist and creative Krista Suh, who was responsible for the Pussyhat Project, actress/comedian Tig Notaro, choreographer Liz Lerman, and Black Lives Matter cofounder Opal Tometi, as well as literary forces Reyna Grande, Yaa Gyasi, Ottessa Moshfegh, Colm T脙鲁ib脙颅n, Ayelet Waldman, and Cambodian film giant Rithy Panh. We also have a conversation on millennials and technology planned with iGen scholar and psychologist Jean Twenge,” Lesser says.

“In addition to welcoming these guests to Scripps, we are excited to present ArtSmooch, an interdisciplinary project that will feature Claremont Colleges faculty and students from across artistic fields creating original works and live performances together with visiting artists.”

This season, Scripps Presents continues its partnerships with a number of other 澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 entities, including the Music, Psychology, and Creative Writing departments, the Humanities Institute, the Laspa Center for Leadership, the Intercollegiate Feminist Center, Scripps Communities of Resources and Empowerment, and the Office of Parent Engagement and Philanthropy, among others.
