announced the Trellis Art Fund awarded a $100,000 grant to deepen and expand her creative practice. Saar, a celebrated sculptor and printmaker, is one of 12 artists to receive the funding from the private foundation. More than 75 art professionals nominated artists working in the US for the awards.

The Trellis Art Fund grants differ from traditional foundation support by imposing no restrictions on how artists use their awards. An advisory board composed of curators, historians, and other creatives selected the 12 winners from 157 applicants.

“Artists, at every stage of their career, need support and acknowledgment, says Arlene Shecet, a Trellis Art Fund advisory board member. “Trellis trusts each artist to respond to the grant in the manner that most benefits them. Trusting in these varied investigations promises to help in the creation of deep and surprising work.”
