Former Scripps President Lori Bettison-Varga was recognized as a for the Los Angeles Times 2024 Inspirational Women Forum and Leadership Awards this November in Downtown Los Angeles.
Currently the president and director of the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, Bettison-Varga served as Scripps’ eighth president from 2009–2015. During her tenure at Scripps, she oversaw the success of the College’s largest fundraising campaign, increased student admission applications by 20 percent, and helped secure $20 million in new scholarship aid to reduce student loans.
