U.S. News & World Report Ranks °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ High in “Best Liberal Arts Colleges”

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ is #25 on the U.S. News & World Report annual rankings of America’s best liberal arts colleges for 2014. The College earned top honors for low student debt, having an ethnically and economically diverse student body and being named a top pick by high school guidance counselors. The College was also recognized as a best value.

Denise Nelson Nash ’76 Named °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Vice President and Secretary of Board Trustees

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ announces the appointment of Denise Nelson Nash ’76 as vice president and secretary of the board of trustees, effective Oct. 14. Nash’s responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and implementing a wide range of Board activities, serving as both key advisor on institutional policy, procedures, and decision-making and as a member of the president’s senior administrative team.

CHASING DAYLIGHT: Philip Latimer Dike 1927 – 1943 Williamson Gallery, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ starts off this year’s exhibitions with Chasing Daylight: Philip Latimer Dike, 1927 –1943, which runs from Aug. 31 through Oct. 13. The opening reception, with live music and light refreshments, will be held on Sept. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery. A closing reception and watercolor demonstration will take place at the gallery on Oct. 13.

The dean’s list recognizes students who have achieved a grade point average of at least 11 (A-) in four, letter-graded courses in one semester.

The Williamson Gallery of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Receives National Endowment for the Arts Grant to Support Conservation of Four Chinese Textiles

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced recently that the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ is one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The Williamson Gallery is recommended for a $30,000 grant to treat four Chinese textiles, the oldest of which is a rare silk bedcovering dating from the late sixteenth to early seventeenth century.
