Biology Professor Jennifer Armstrong Receives $450,000 NSF Grant
Associate Professor of Biology Jennifer Armstrong received a $450,000 three-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to research chromosome structure and gene expression. Armstrong teaches at the W.M. Keck Science Department of Pitzer College, Claremont McKenna College and °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ.

The Claremont Concert Orchestra and the Claremont Chorale celebrate the 50th anniversary of Garrison Theater and the 10th anniversary of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Performing Arts Center by performing Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125” at 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 15 in Garrison Theater of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Performing Arts Center, 241 E. 10th St. This event is free and open to the public.

Following Andy Warhol’s lead, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. continues to surprise and delight. In 2008, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ received an astonishing gift of 150 Warhol works, including 50 silver gelatin prints, as part of the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program. Now, five years later, the foundation has chosen to donate yet again to the Scripps Collection. Seven substantially-sized prints, each created by Andy Warhol, have just been added to the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ collection.

After a national search, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ President Lori Bettison-Varga announces the appointment of Donna Ng as vice president for business affairs and treasurer of the College, effective Jan. 27. Ng will fill the position vacated by Joanne M. Coville, who retires with more than two years of service.

The Claremont Colleges’ Honnold Library hosts a photo exhibition of nearly 100 of Curtis’ still images. °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ Professor of Art Ken Gonzales-Day curated this free show located on the second floor of the library’s Honnold wing. The library is located at 800 N. Dartmouth Ave., Claremont, Calif. The display runs through Dec. 1.
