Awards and Honors: Lina Mihret ’18 and Madeline Sy ’18 Awarded Thomas J. Watson Fellowships

Scripps seniors Lina Mihret ’18 and Madeline Sy ’18 have been named Thomas J. Watson Fellows for 2018. The Watson Fellowship is a one-year grant that funds independent research and exploration outside of the United States; it is awarded to graduating seniors nominated by one of 40聽partner聽colleges. Mihret and Sy were chosen from a pool of 149 applicants, with only 40 students awarded grants.
