Linkage Programs
One of the most exciting features of the 澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Post-Baccalaureate Program is our linkage program with six stellar medical schools. Students who have outstanding qualifications upon entering the program and who continue to succeed academically and in their volunteer placements while enrolled in the program will be invited to apply for a linkage. Typically, about a quarter of the students in each class successfully enter medical school through our linkage programs in the fall following the completion of their Post-Baccalaureate curriculum at 澳门六合彩开奖记录资料. Acceptance to medical school through our linkage programs is contingent upon continued high academic achievement and performance on the MCAT.
Scripps has linkage agreements with the following schools:
- Boston University, School of Medicine, Boston, MA
- Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, Hempstead, NY
- University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA
The Scripps postbac administration provides 1-1 advising tailored to each student’s specific timeline for applying to medical school. Students who choose to apply to medical school through a linkage program have distinct timeframes for taking the medical college admission test (MCAT), completing their personal statement and secondary application, and preparing for medical school interviews. Our hands-on advising approach helps ensure that Scripps postbac students are on track throughout the application process and are able to present themselves optimally to medical school admissions committees.
Glide year
After completing the Post-Bac Program, students who do not commit to a linkage agreement enter into a year of transition, commonly referred to as the glide year. Most students who complete a post-baccalaureate program begin the medical school application process in June, following the completion of their program, with the intention of beginning medical school approximately 14 months later.
During a glide year, students continue to develop their professional portfolios as prospective medical students along with completing their secondary applications to medical schools. Many students use this year to continue to take additional college courses such as molecular biology, genetics, or statistics. This is also an ideal time to participate in research opportunities. The 澳门六合彩开奖记录资料 Post-Baccalaureate Program continues to offer advising through the glide year as applicants navigate the medical school admission process.
Recently, our glide year students have been enrolled in continuing education classes and have participated in research projects at City of Hope, Loma Linda University Medical Center, and UCSF Breast Care Center.聽 In addition, many students scribe or volunteer in various clinical settings.
